Sunflare Shadow

12” × 12” | Acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas |

Sunflare Shadow is one of four companion sunflower paintings that can each stand on their own or come together as a larger sunflower composition.

I created this piece during the same basement studio season as the other three paintings. I had intentionally found another physical space because I needed some separation from the heaviness surrounding my everyday life.

Looking back, I love that these paintings contain both brightness and darkness. Because honestly, that was much closer to what growth actually looked like for me.

I wasn’t creating from a perfectly peaceful life. I was creating toward peace.

Sunflare Shadow reminds me that becoming doesn’t require every part of life to feel bright before something beautiful can begin to emerge.

For me, Sunflare Shadow represents contrast, strength, and becoming. 🌻
