Whirly Bloom

12” × 12” | Acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas |

Whirly Bloom is one of four companion sunflower paintings that can each stand on their own or be displayed together as part of a larger sunflower composition.

I created this piece during the same temporary studio season in my dad’s basement. That little space gave me somewhere to step away from the heaviness I was experiencing at home and simply follow color, movement, and whatever made me feel a little lighter.

I wasn’t necessarily trying to resolve the chaos around me. I think I was trying to create enough beauty inside of it that I could breathe.

There’s something about the swirling movement in this painting that feels like becoming in real time. Messy, colorful, nonlinear, and somehow still blooming.

For me, Whirly Bloom represents being playful, swirling, and hopeful. 🌻
